Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven’t heard, Josh Gordon is back for what will hopefully be his first full NFL season in what seems like forever. It’s no secret that Josh Gordon has had his share of issues but I think that it’s time to celebrate his return to the league.
For starters, his campaign in 2013 was absolutely mesmerizing. He had 1646 yards and 9 touchdowns in just 14 games. He was one of the best wide receivers in the league during that season and it was absolutely incredible to watch. If he is half as good this season as he was that season then he’ll still be one of the most exciting players in the league.
We should also be celebrating because Josh Gordon is taking the steps necessary to improve his life. It goes beyond football. This man finally has the opportunity to live his life again.
Addiction isn’t a joke. It can take over your life if you make the wrong choices and have a personality that gets addicted. Josh Gordon has made some bad choices in the past. The best news in life is that each day is a new day and you always have the ability to make the right choice. He seems committed to doing that.
As both football fans and human beings, we should be celebrating the return of Josh Gordon. We should make sure that we help create an environment that doesn’t stigmatize addiction. Rather, we should make sure that those who need help feel comfortable to ask for help and we should make sure that they get the help they need to live their life to the fullest again.
