The New York Giants released their 53 man roster. It can be found by clicking here.
One thing you’ll notice is that the Giants kept four quarterbacks on the roster which is senseless heading into the season. The only thing that makes sense is that the Giants are looking to trade one of them.
Eli Manning will not be traded as he’s the clear-cut starting quarterback. Considering Alex Tanney has virtually no trade value, it’s unlikely that he’d be the quarterback on the move. The Giants current regime just took Kyle Lauletta with a 4th round draft pick this year and he played well this preseason. The only one that remains in the group of quarterbacks is Davis Webb.
Webb had a shaky preseason. At times he looked calm and poised and in other moments he couldn’t throw the ball into the ocean from the beach. If the Giants have decided that Webb isn’t in the team’s future plans, they could likely get a mid-round draft pick for him and eliminate a potential future distraction.
After the summer of Davis Webb hype, it looks like the future could be over before it even begins.
