After making some surprising cuts yesterday and almost trading Davis Webb, the Giants roster is one step closer to what it will look like opening weekend (which is just next week!).
Cuts: QB Davis Webb (per @NFLUpdates), CB William Gay, OG John Jerry, TE Jerrell Adams, DL Josh Banks, WR Hunter Sharp.
After making 7 waiver claims (that’s a TON), the Giants have claimed DE Mario Edwards Jr. A former second round pick by the Raiders, injuries have derailed Edwards Jr. career so far. Edwards was a promising prospect who has flashed potential over the past few seasons. If he can stay healthy, he could find his way onto the field.
The Giants also claimed C Spencer Pulley from the Los Angeles Chargers. He signed with them as an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt in 2016. He started all 16 games at center for them last season.
The Giants also claimed WR Kaelin Clay off waivers from the Buffalo Bills. He is a former 6th round draft choice of the Buccaneers and he played his college football at Utah. He will primarily be a return man. In three seasons, he has two punt return touchdowns and averages 9.4 yards per punt return.
The Giants only kept 4 corners on the initial 53 man roster. They went ahead and claimed 3 more:
The Giants also claimed DB Michael Jordan. He played played college football at Missouri Western State University. He’s played two seasons in the NFL with the Rams and the Browns totaling 20 games. So in one offseason, Cleveland has lost both Michael Jordan and Lebron James.
The Giants also claimed CB Antonio Hamilton, who was also cut by Oakland yesterday. Hamilton went undrafted in 2016 out of South Carolina State. Hamilton showed flashes last season before ending up on injured reserve.
Kamrin Moore was drafted by New Orleans in the 6th round this year. He has experience playing special teams in college and nick corner from his time at Boston College.
The Giants are also adding players to their practice squad:
OLB Avery Moss
HB Jhurell Pressley
DB Grant Haley
TE Garrett Dickerson
