The New York Giants and Leonard Williams have agreed to a 3 year deal worth $63M with $45M fully guaranteed. That’s just massive. It makes Williams the second highest paid IDL in football on a per year basis (tied with Deforest Buckner) and in guaranteed money. Williams also gets a $22.5M signing bonus. His expected cap hit should come in at around $11M. Which means the Giants will have $52M to spread out over the 2022 and 2023 cap space when they have much more room to work with. Leonard Williams also dropped the positional grievance with the Giants. Williams believed he should have been tagged as a DE last offseason, despite playing a majority of his snaps at IDL.
The Giants followed up the move by immediately signgin WR John Ross to a 1 year deal worth $2.5M with $1M guaranteed. The speedy wide receiver comes in on a cheap deal. He adds an element of speed the Giants offense desperately needs.
