The Houston Texans are set to debut their “Battle Red” helmets this season against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 9. This is the first time the Texans have had a different helmet since 2002, which was the year of the franchise’s debut. The team will give a preview of their new helmet in a training camp practice this summer.
The NFL made an approval for teams to have an alternate helmet ahead of last season, eliminating the prior one-shell rule that took place in 2012.
After a dreaded season in 2021 going 4-13 and all of the Deshaun Watson incidents involving the team, a new look can give Texans fans something to get excited about.
