Folks, I absolutely love Kayvon Thibodeaux. Not only is he a bright spot on the field each and every Sunday, but he simply doesn’t concern himself with things that don’t matter. Jeff Saturday is someone who doesn’t matter to Kayvon Thibodeaux. Jeff Saturday isn’t a future coach of the year like Brian Daboll.
In case you live under a rock and didn’t hear. Jeff Saturday criticized Kayvon Thibodeaux for celebrating a sack when he didn’t know that Nick Foles (the sacked player) was injured.
Do I agree with Jeff Saturday’s criticism? Absolutely not. Kayvon clearly didn’t know that Nick Foles was injured.
Kayon Thibodeaux then responded to Jeff Saturday and hit him with the “I don’t even know who he is” line which is absolutely brilliant.
This is stone cold for a variety of reasons. For starters, Jeff Saturday was a six time pro-bowler and he won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning. He is obviously well known. But Kayvon Thibodeaux, a growing legend in his own right, doesn’t care because his opinion now is irrelevant. When you’re going places, it doesn’t matter what irrelevant people think.
I know that some Giants fans are going to have a field day about this. Some Giants fans are going to cry and complain and say that Kayvon Thibodeaux is a diva. Those fans couldn’t be more wrong in this situation. Kayvon Thibodeaux was celebrating a sack, not celebrating an injury.
The criticism he is receiving is unfair and wrong. Why should he have to sit back and take it?
Jeff Saturday, who blew a 33-0 lead during his brief tenure as a head coach, has no bearing on Kayvon Thibodeaux. Giants fans should rally behind Thibs and not make him out to be a villain. We remember what happened last time the Giants had a young superstar who was at times a bit outspoken. Let’s not repeat that again.
