Giants O-Line Faced With Toughest Task Against the Eagles

The New York Giants are set to travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in the Divisional Round Saturday at 8:15 pm est. This season, the Giants are 0-2 against the Eagles. The last time the Giants defeated the Eagles was in 2021 when they won 13-7 at MetLife Stadium. However, it has been a long time since the Giants beat the Eagles in Philadelphia. It was 2013 when the Giants won on the road against the Eagles. In their last 14 meetings both home and away, the Giants have won three of those. The Giants can turn that around this weekend coming off a win over the Vikings 31-24 in the Wild Card. It is hard to believe the Giants are just two wins away from the Super Bowl. So much can change in just one year.

The ultimate test the Giants will face is the pressure of the Eagles’ pass rushers. The Eagles tied the 1987 Bears defense with logging 70 sacks in the regular season. The Giants finished with 41 this year. With Evan Neal having some rookie struggles as well as some of the interior line, the Giants will need to be able to protect quarterback Daniel Jones in order to find success against this front.

Evan Neal struggled against the Vikings, but the entire line gave Jones a good pocket to throw from that game. Jones also was elusive and would take off and run when needed. If the offensive line can hold up enough for Jones and the offense, there is no reason why they cannot replicate what they showed against the Vikings last week. The offense has made great strides towards the end of this season. Players like Richie James and Isaiah Hodgins have really stepped up their game as of late.

If the Giants offensive line can hold the rope against the Eagles pressure, establish the run game, and win the turnover battle, they should have a good chance to overcome the winning deficit in Philadelphia.
